Congratulations

We are excited to share with you some fantastic news about our calligraphy students' recent achievements. Our students participated in the Chinese
Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for foreigners across the globe, and we are thrilled to announce that they have won several awards.
Five of our students, namely Sarah P., Shirley G., Cynthia G., Giovanna A., and Andrew Y., have received honorable mentions for their exceptional work. Their creativity and skills in calligraphy have
been recognized, and we are proud of their achievements.
In addition, Yakelin R. has been awarded
the Most Potential Award, which highlights her talent and potential in the art of calligraphy. Her dedication and hard work have paid off, and we are excited to see her continue to grow in this field.
Moreover, we are happy to announce that MIMS has also received the Outstanding Organization Award, which recognizes our school's commitment to promoting and supporting the Chinese language and culture.
MIMS Teachers of the Year
This year our Teachers of the year are:
Elementary School: Ms. Kristen Thome
I am a proud graduate of HISD, from elementary through high school. I then attended The University of St. Thomas, where I earned a B.A. in General Studies followed first by a Master's in Education, then a degree in Educational Administration and Leadership.
I have dedicated the last 23 years of my life to education as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. While I loved my time in administration, my true passion has always been teaching. I had the opportunity to return to the classroom three years ago and feel very fortunate to have the privilege of working at MIMS. It is rare to find a school in which the entire faculty and staff support each other and each individual student.
My hope is that, by working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents, I will be able to continue to guide and educate students for years to come.
Middle School: Mr. Bin Wang
Hello, My name is Bin Wang, 王滨, I teach 7th grade Math, 8th grade Algebra, and Fundamentals of Computer Science. I love
teaching, and I enjoy seeing my students become successful young adults.
I was born in Beijing and grew up
in Queens, New York City. I am a graduate of the University of Houston. *go Coogs* This is my
6th year teaching, 3rd year at MIMS. Growing up, I had a memorable and funny math teacher, and I try my best to replicate that for my students, whether it’s telling a joke or relating lessons to the real world.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy watching students excel at their passions, such as team sports or academic competitions. This year
I was granted the opportunity to take students on an out-of-state field trip in April, and I am grateful to our parents for entrusting me with the safety and well-being of our students.
I share the honor of being named Teacher of the Year with my teammates at MIMS, in particular, Mrs. Muraleedharan. She is one of the best teachers at MIMS, and I’m very fortunate to have her as my teaching partner.
Thank you for the warm welcome to MIMS in 2020. I can’t wait to develop and foster the MIMS community by participating and developing events in the future.

To be VIPS-approved, you must submit an application via this link:
